Dean Frew – SML Group
CTO & SVP RFID Solutions
Dean Frew is Chief Technology Officer and Sr. Vice President of RFID Solutions for SML Group. In this role, Mr. Frew is leading SML’s overall technology and go-to-market strategy for RFID, including tags, software and deployment. Prior to his current role, Mr. Frew was President of SML RFID (formerly Xterprise, purchased by SML in 2013). Mr. Frew founded Xterprise in 2002, and under his leadership the company became a leading RFID enterprise application and solutions provider.
Prior to founding Xterprise, Mr. Frew served on executive teams for several supply chain software and RFID solutions companies, including GlobeRanger, the business-to-business exchange FPIX, and an RFID edgeware firm. In addition, he spent 15 years at Texas Instruments (TI), serving as General Manager of Advanced Logistics and RFID-enhanced supply chain systems, and Director of Technology Programs, among other positions. In 1995, Mr. Frew led TI’s efforts to acquire Savi, an enterprise RFID application and solutions company.
Mr. Frew is a frequent speaker featured at many national and international events focused on supply chain, asset management and RFID technology. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from New Mexico State University, and a Master of Science degree in Industrial Systems from Virginia Tech. Mr. Frew holds multiple patents in electronic packaging and RFID systems, plus pending patents for RFID and inventory and asset systems.
Clint Tennil – Vice President, Architecture
Clint Tennill is responsible for leading all technology development for external and internal systems, tools and applications. He is experienced at leading domestic and offshore development teams as well as assessing business case technology needs and transforming them into delivered solutions. Mr. Tennill’s background also includes extensive experience in a wide range of platforms, protocols, technologies, tools and business case analysis.
Prior to SML RFID, Mr. Tennill held technology management, development and engineering positions with Emergisoft, SeceneScape, MobileSteam and Ericsson. He has a bachelor’s of science degree in business administration from The University of Kansas, and a master’s of science degree in computer science from The University of Texas.
Arun Meyyappan – Manager, Finance and Business Operations
With more than 11 years of experience working in Finance, Strategy, Business Development and Technology, Arun handles all finance, legal and business case analysis for SML RFID globally. Prior to joining SML RFID, Arun worked with a renewable energy startup in Texas and helped them raise over $5 Million in seed capital. He has expertise in software pricing, contract negotiations, capital investment, long-range planning, revenue and cost optimization, and business analysis.
Prior to graduate school, Arun worked for four years at JB Hunt Transport Inc. in the Information Technology department where he was responsible for IT project management, software and hardware roll-outs, and budgeting.
Arun holds a MBA from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX and a BSBA from the University of Arkansas.
An RFID industry veteran with over a decade of experience serving Retail and Supply Chain markets, Philip Lazo led various Retail Store and Distribution Center rollouts of RFID technology for inventory management, notably for Wal-Mart Stores and U.S. Defense Logistics Agency distribution depots. Prior to joining SML, as the founding Vice President/General Manager of Symbol technologies (now Zebra), he oversaw the evolution of the RFID equipment business to market leadership. Mr. Lazo now serves as Head of Sales in the Americas for SML RFID, overseeing sales of SML’s Clarity™ software platform that manages RFID inventory data for some of the largest apparel brands and vertically integrated retailers, including Tesco F&F and American Apparel.
Kam Pancholi – Director of Business Development
Kam Pancholi is the Director of Business Development for SML in the UK and Europe, providing clients with a consultative approach in driving business benefit and solution deployments with the use of RFID. Mr. Pancholi’s knowledge of the retail industry, especially the Apparel sector, allows SML to work in partnership with retailers to build compelling businesses and move forward with RFID deployments. Alongside working on new business opportunities, he is responsible for the Account Management for the Tesco RFID project deployment.
Prior to joining SML RFID, Mr. Pancholi was the UK Sales Manager at Cegid, where he was responsible for several global solution deployments for iconic British brands. He was instrumental in growing the Cegid UK business from £1M to £4M within four years.
With more than 25 years of experience in the IT industry, primarily in Apparel Retail, Mr. Pancholi has held management positions as Sales Director, Head Of Business Consultancy and Product Manager for Payment Solutions. He has expertise in conducting business with ‘C’ level executives, IT personnel, Retail Operations and Loss Prevention experts at global retailers.
Mr. Pancholi went to Brightment High School and County Grammar School, Bolton, and graduated with a degree in Computer Studies with Business at Bolton University in Greater Manchester, UK.
